Mailing Lists

These are the mailing lists available, which relate to CPAN Testers:

  • CPAN Uploads
  • CPAN Testers
  • CPAN Testers Discuss
  • Perl QA

See below for more explanation of each.

CPAN Uploads Mailing List

The CPAN Uploads mailing list is a READONLY list used to announce all the PAUSE uploads. Web archives are at http://www.mail-archive.com/cpan-uploads%40perl.org/ and http://www.nntp.perl.org/group/perl.cpan.uploads/.

As The CPAN Testers mailing list (see below) is now ONLY an inbound list, the PAUSE uploads are now also posted to CPAN Uploads mailing list. These are used to notify the testers of a new distribution available for testing. Any posts to this list will be ignored.

CPAN Testers Mailing List

The CPAN Testers mailing list is used to post all the PAUSE uploads and tester reports to. Web archives are at http://www.mail-archive.com/cpan-testers%40perl.org/, http://www.nntp.perl.org/group/perl.cpan.testers/ and http://groups.google.com/group/perl.cpan.testers/.

The PAUSE uploads notify the testers of a new distribution available for testing, and the testers reports alert other testers that a particular distribution has been tested for a particular Perl/platform.

As of February 11th 2008, following the 1 millionth report, it was decided to end the outbound mailings from the list server. As we are now seeing several thousand reports a day, which are then distributed to several hundred subscribed addresses, the volume of throughput is increasing too much for the mail server to bear. The perl.org admins (Robert and Ask) have created the CPAN Uploads mailing (see above) to continue the announcements of uploads, but the reports will no longer be mailed out. If you wish to monitor the archives, please use the web archives listed above, or the NNTP server.

CPAN Testers Discuss Mailing List

The CPAN Testers Discuss mailing list is used to discuss all development and process work behind the scenes with all the tools involved with CPAN Testing. Web archives are available at http://www.mail-archive.com/cpan-testers-discuss%40perl.org/.

Subscribe: Send an empty email to cpan-testers-discuss-subscribe@perl.org
Unsubscribe: Send an empty email to cpan-testers-discuss-unsubscribe@perl.org

Perl QA Mailing List

While not specifically for CPAN Testing related topics, the Perl QA mailing list does discuss topics covering CPAN Testing do come up from time to time. Particularly regards problems or feature requests to improve the testing systems.
