CPAN Testers 2.0 FAQ

What is CPAN Testers 2.0 (CT 2.0)?

CPAN Testers 2.0 is the next generation infrastructure for CPAN Testers. Reports are submitted via web instead of email and the backend archive uses a new, flexible framework instead of NNTP. See the official announcement for more.

When does CT 2.0 go live?

It's live now. Beta testers have been feeding reports to it, which are being fed to the CPAN Testers stats database. The old email system for submitting reports had shut down on August 31, 2010.

How do I switch to CT 2.0?

See Quick Start for CPAN Testers 2.0

How do I make sure my old CT 1.0 reports and CT 2.0 reports are counted together for the leaderboard?

High-volume testers were issues pre-generated "profile" files that will help link their reports. New testers can get started by creating a new CT 2.0 profile following the instructions in the QuickStart guide. Use the same email address you used previously and your reports counts should link up.

Does CT 2.0 have a lot of dependencies?

On the tester's side, it has a few more dependencies than the old email-based submission approach. We're working on reducing these where possible or providing alternative configuration that requires very few (if any) non-core dependencies. Check back on this FAQ page for any new developments.

Help! CPAN::Reporter still claims to be sending reports by email!

That was a boilerplate message. Upgrade to CPAN::Reporter 1.18 and the message will show the actual transport mechanism being used.
